As our October GSM wine tasting sold out in less than a day, we have decided to run it again at 7:30PM on Thursday November 9th. The twist is that we will repeat only one wine from October so will be adding five new wines in November.
The tasting features "GSM" (Grenache-Syrah-Mourvèdre) wines, one of the world's classic wine blends which is the basis of the Côte du Rhône (France). Grenache probably originated from Aragón in modern Spain (or possibly Sardinia in modern Italy), Syrah from France, and Mourvèdre from Catalonia as planted by the Phoenicians, making the blend international as well as diverse.Châteaunuf-du-Pape (heavy on the Grenache) may be the most famous, but GSMs are also produced in other parts of the Rhône (with generally more emphasis on Syrah), Australia (where "Syrah" is often known as Shiraz, and is commonly and deliciously blended with Cabernet), as well as California, where the producers are sometimes referred to as the Rhone Rangers.Rather than our usual approach of having six GSM wines, three of our six tasting wines will be 100% Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. The remaining three will be GSM blends drawn from France, Australia, and California.The cost will be our usual $30 for members and $35 for non-members.
